The city is located on a massive natural harbour on the Eastern Indian Ocean coast of Africa. Being situated so close to the equator and the warm Indian ocean, the city experiences generally tropical climatic conditions, typified by hot and humid weather throughout much of the year. A variety of museums, including the National Museum, the Village Museum and the Botanical Garden are all very close by. Within an hour’s drive north from Dar es Salaam is Bagamoyo, which is home to the Kaole ruins. Trips to the nearby islands of the Dar es Salaam Marine Reserve are a popular daytrip from the city and a favourite spot for snorkeling, swimming and sunbathing.

Arusha is a pleasant city, due to its moderate weather, location, beautiful countryside and lively music scene. Arusha is home to many of Tanzania’s festivals, and the yearly festival is hosted by a few Tanzanian corporate sponsors that attract various artists from around the world.
Arusha also hosts the annual Arusha Nane Nane Agricultural show. Nane Nane is one of the many vibrant public holidays in Tanzania, held on August 8 (the 8th of the 8th month, nane nane means eight eight in Swahili).

The fierce sun sucks the moisture from the landscape, baking the earth a dusty red, the withered grass as brittle as straw. This is Tarangire National Park image in the dry season. Herds of up to 300 elephants scratch the dry river bed for underground streams, while migratory wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, impala, gazelle, hartebeest and eland crowd the shrinking lagoons. It’s the greatest concentration of wildlife outside the Serengeti ecosystem – and the one place in Tanzania where the antelopes Oryx and gerenuk are regularly observed. Tarangire`s pythons climb trees, as do it lions and leopards, lounging in the branches of the sausage tree disguises the twitch of a tail.

The famous Ngorongoro Crater, situated at the eastern edge of the Serengeti, in northern Tanzania is considered by some as the Eighth Natural Wonder of the World and it is a World Heritage Site since 1979. The crater is the largest unbroken ancient caldera in the world.
The Ngorongoro volcano before it exploded and collapsed 2 million years ago, was one of the world’s tallest mountains and nowadays, it is considered Africa’s Garden of Eden, a haven for thousands of wild animals. The crater measures about 19 kilometers across and is ringed with 600m. high steep walls and shelters forests, which stretch to the crater’s floor, between grasslands and fresh springs and it has a large sparkling soda lake at its centre.

Paleoanthropological site in the eastern Serengeti Plain, within the boundaries of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area in northern Tanzania. It is a steep-sided ravine consisting of two branches that have a combined length of about 30 miles (48 km) and are 295 feet (90 metres) deep. Deposits exposed in the sides of the gorge cover a time span from about 2,100,000 to 15,000 years ago. The deposits have yielded the fossil remains of more than 60 hominins (members of the human lineage), providing the most continuous known record of human evolution during the past 2,000,000 years, as well as the longest known  archaeological record of the development of stone-tool industries. Olduvai Gorge was designated part of a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1979. Olduvai  is a mispronunciation of Oldupai, the Masai word for a type of wild sisal found around the gorge. The Gorge was re-named in 2005 to correct this mistake.

Serengeti is derived from the Maasai language, Serengit meaning Endless Plains. The spectacle of predator versus prey dominates Tanzania’s greatest park. Golden-manned lion prides feast on the abundance of plain grazers. Solitary leopards haunt the acacia trees lining the Seronera River, while a high density of cheetahs prowls the southeastern plains. Almost uniquely, all three African jackal species occur here (the golden jackal, the black-backed jackal, the side striped jackal), alongside the spotted hyena and a host of more elusive small predators, ranging from the insectivorous aardwolf to the beautiful serval cat. But there is more to Serengeti than large mammals. Gaudy agama lizards and rock hyraxes scuffle around the surfaces of the park’s isolated granite kopjes. A full 100 varieties of dung beetle have been recorded, as have 500-plus bird species, ranging from the outsized ostrich and bizarre secretary bird of the open grassland, to the black eagles that soar effortlessly above the Lobo Hills.

The phrase Big Five game was coined by big-game hunters and refers to the five most difficult animals in Africa to hunt on foot. The term is still used in most tourist and wildlife guides that discuss African wildlife safaris.The big five are among the most dangerous mammals:
-The Lion (Panthera leo) is a large carnivorous feline of Africa, having a short tawny coat, a tufted tail, and, in the male, a heavy mane around the neck and shoulders.
-The African Elephant (Loxodonta Africana) is a very large herbivore having thick, almost hairless skin, a long, flexible, prehensile trunk, upper incisors forming long curved tusks of ivory, and large, fan-shaped ears. There are two distinct species of African elephant: African Forest Elephant (Loxodonta cyclotis) and the African Bush Elephant (Loxodonta africana).
-The African Buffalo or Cape Buffalo (Syncerus caffer) is a large horned bovid. It is the most dangerous of the Big Five, reportedly causing the most hunter deaths.
-The Leopard (Panthera pardus) is a large, carnivorous feline having either tawny fur with dark rosette-like markings or black fur. Leopards are the most difficult to acquire hunting licenses for and are often difficult to hunt due to their behavior and their nocturnal feeding habits. Leopard hunting usually overlaps several weeks of baiting.
-The Rhinoceros is a large, thick-skinned herbivore having one or two upright horns on the snout. In Africa, there are two distinct species of rhinoceros; the Black Rhinoceros (Diceros bicornis) and the White Rhinoceros (Ceratotherium simum). Both of these species have two upright horns on the snout.

The compact game-viewing circuit through Lake Manyara National Park offers a virtual microcosm of the Tanzanian safari experience. From the entrance gate, the road winds through an expanse of lush jungle-like groundwater forest where hundred-strong baboon troops lounge nonchalantly along the roadside, blue monkeys scamper nimbly between the ancient mahogany trees, dainty bushbuck tread warily through the shadows, and outsized forest hornbills honk cacophonously in the high canopy.
